4 Tips for Staying Cool during the Summer without A/C

With summer right around the corner, and temperatures rising, staying cool and hydrated during the summer can start becoming a costly utility bill, and paying a higher amount for your electricity bill can be avoided by finding ways to stay nice and cool during a hot summer day. Luckily for you, we have some tips and tricks to staying cool all while saving and keeping a nice budget!

1.) Using fans to keep you cool.

Using a fan is the most cost-effective and easiest way to get fresh air and stay ventilated during the summer. For ceiling fans, it is important to make sure the fan direction is set to push the hot air upwards towards the ceiling and cold air down towards you to give you a nice cool breeze instead of continually pushing hot air around the room. This also works during the fall and spring to change the direction to push colder air upwards and warmer air downwards when changing the direction.

For smaller electric powered fans, spraying a small amount of water with a spray bottle will bring the most relieving breeze of cold air leaving you cool and feeling fresh.

2.) Drinking cold water!

Drinking cold water helps cool you off and helps keep your body hydrated by providing oxygen molecules to your bloodstream which in turn gives you energy and keeps the cells in your body nice and healthy. We also recommend looking into water filtration systems for maximum effectiveness towards keeping you hydrated and healthy.

3.) Stay in the shade!

Staying in the shade under areas like trees, tall buildings, under an umbrella, etc, will block the Sun rays, and keep you cooler, as you won’t be getting constantly hit by the heat that the rays provide. Keeping your blinds closed in your home will also prevent Sun rays from entering your home, thus keeping the inside of your home cooler and fresh!

4.) Opening the windows when the Sun goes down.

Once night time comes around, the weather changes dramatically, and often times it ends up being cold at night and hot during the day. Keeping a set amount of cold air will help ventilate and keep the entire house cold without the need for turning on an A/C during the night!
